For biker scribe Eddie ‘Sorez’ Pliska, poetry is as much about capturing his passion for the moto lifestyle and the raw energy of two-wheeled travel in prose, as it is about documenting determination in the face of the often-harsh struggles of life. He has had his fair share of both.

Here is Sorez's exclusive June piece, titled A Matter of Survival. The two-wheeled lifestyle: It's bike therapy which tones your physical and mental reflexes. Be safe out there and keep the rubber side down.

Sorez, a contributing writer for Outlaw Biker Magazine who also has a popular book of poetry out, graciously pens some inspiration for the NYC Motorcyclist community each month. You can read more about Sorez in a feature NYC Motorcyclist published in the spring of 2018.

A MATTER OF SURVIVAL

All that it takes
Is a couple of hours
Out there on the road
In the midst of chaos
To be able to shake off
The stress of the day
Where the only concern
Is to be staying alive
Taking some chances
Outside of the norm
Something could happen
Might be my own fault
At times crossing lines
When it’s called for
Ya see it’s not just me
Trying to get ahead
It’s a matter of survival
Not a race to the end

As summer nears and there are more bikes on the road, keep an eye out for your fellow riders. It's a jungle out there.
