Brother of the Wind & the Pen
For biker scribe Eddie ‘Sorez’ Pliska, poetry is as much about capturing his passion for the moto lifestyle and the raw energy of two-wheeled travel in prose, as it is about documenting determination in the face of the often-harsh struggles of life. He has had his fair share of both.
Here is Sorez's exclusive March piece, titled Riding Towards Hope ... sometimes when things are unsettled, all you have is hope, open roads and the turn of a throttle. Make those miles count.
Sorez, a contributing writer for Outlaw Biker Magazine who also has a popular book of poetry out, graciously pens some inspiration for the NYC Motorcyclist community each month. You can read more about Sorez in a feature NYC Motorcyclist published in the spring of 2018.
RIDING TOWARDS HOPE
An empty page is in front of me
Scrambled thoughts, like eggs in a pan
Running in different directions in my mind
Cannot make heads or tails of happenings
Use to have a clue but I lost that too
Between the lefts and rights and the wrongs
There was a time when things did not matter
Now it’s easy enough to become overwhelmed
An empty road rolls out in front of me
Boot the shifter and twist the throttle
Have no fear of what lies up ahead
Harley thunder crackles in the wind
It’s a really good way to clear my head
Focused upon the miles yet to ride
Storing the past in my saddle bags
Future is uncertain that is for sure
Riding towards hope for all it’s worth

Thanks to Sorez for his words of wisdom ... we all need some hope these days.
