For biker scribe Eddie ‘Sorez’ Pliska, poetry is as much about capturing his passion for the moto lifestyle and the raw energy of two-wheeled travel in prose, as it is about documenting determination in the face of the often-harsh struggles of life. He has had his fair share of both.

Here is Sorez's exclusive October piece, titled Frame of Mind. Life takes its toll. To rise above the fray and leave the darkness behind ... look forward and grow, reinvent, rebuild.

Sorez, a contributing writer for Outlaw Biker Magazine who also has a popular book of poetry out, graciously pens some inspiration for the NYC Motorcyclist community each month. You can read more about Sorez in a feature NYC Motorcyclist published in the spring of 2018.

Frame of Mind

Layers of rust formed
Quite a few decades ago.
Throughout the miles,
Oxidation pitted chrome.
My bike became a shadow
Of it’s former self.
And just like my ride,
Things started to fall apart.
Rust had begun to form
Upon my hardened heart.
Oil droplets on the ground.
Years of tears, fell as well.
Waterfalls of sorrows.
Dark clouds, were constant,
Unwelcome, companions.
Out there in the weather
As the miles went by,
Rust took it’s toll.
Compromised my ride.
Started to corrode my life.
Until I began to wrench,
Rebuilding frame of mind.
