Brother of the Wind & the Pen
For biker scribe Eddie ‘Sorez’ Pliska, poetry is as much about capturing his passion for the moto lifestyle and the raw energy of two-wheeled travel in prose, as it is about documenting determination in the face of the often-harsh struggles of life. He has had his fair share of both.
Here is Sorez's exclusive August piece, titled Serenity. Riding as therapy -- it clears the doubts, the rust in life, bad memories and experiences ... and gives a fresh perspective on the future. Turn a throttle, keep your rubber side down, and aspire to happiness.
Sorez, a contributing writer for Outlaw Biker Magazine who also has a popular book of poetry out, graciously pens some inspiration for the NYC Motorcyclist community each month. You can read more about Sorez in a feature NYC Motorcyclist published in the spring of 2018.
Serenity
Beyond the miles of yesterday
The good, the bad, halfway insane
Rust had engulfed my memories
Bad outweighed good, such a shame
Perception of self became distorted
Reality shifted out there on the road
Inside of my mind chaos ensued
Believing the lies that I told myself
I needed to get my head on straight
Catch some miles upon the highway
In sixth gear the past can’t keep up
And negative vibes are let go of
The less distractions, better the ride
Roar of my Harley clears my mind
In tune with spirit deep down within
Knowing in my heart, all is forgiven
Thanks to our resident poet, Eddie ‘Sorez’ Pliska, for continuing to always inspire us with his words.
