For biker scribe Eddie ‘Sorez’ Pliska, poetry is as much about capturing his passion for the moto lifestyle and the raw energy of two-wheeled travel in prose, as it is about documenting determination in the face of the often-harsh struggles of life. He has had his fair share of both.

Here is Sorez's exclusive December piece, titled Winterize ... taking those moments, even as winter sets in, to keep those two wheels rolling. It's a life choice.

Sorez, a contributing writer for Outlaw Biker Magazine who also has a popular book of poetry out, graciously pens some inspiration for the NYC Motorcyclist community each month. You can read more about Sorez in a feature NYC Motorcyclist published in the spring of 2018.

WINTERIZE

Hard start at 6 AM, thirty-one degrees
Once she caught a spark, came to life
A couple of quick twists of the throttle
Bike began to idle, nice and steady
Few moments taken to dust off the frost
Accumulation on the mustang solo seat
T’was patched from a tear just last year
Too worn in comfortable to be replaced
Gerbing’s, neck to toes all plugged in
Temp control halfway and already warm
Frost from my breath that begins to fog
The once abhorred, full face helmet
But even that visor is wired so I can see
Knowing that the streets are all cleared
And the dreaded black ice, nowhere near
In the saddle winterized, ride ... live ... ride.
