For biker scribe Eddie ‘Sorez’ Pliska, poetry is as much about capturing his passion for the moto lifestyle and the raw energy of two-wheeled travel in prose, as it is about documenting determination in the face of the often-harsh struggles of life. He has had his fair share of both.

Here is Sorez's exclusive November piece, titled Fading Memories ... as you progress through life it is often your best memories that prevail, while the hard times fade away.

Sorez, a contributing writer for Outlaw Biker Magazine who also has a popular book of poetry out, graciously pens some inspiration for the NYC Motorcyclist community each month. You can read more about Sorez in a feature NYC Motorcyclist published in the spring of 2018.

FADING MEMORIES

Use to be the wind was free
And roads were meant to roam
Gallon of gas was a buck and a half
On highways where tolls were a quarter
When it rained it really didn’t pour
And the sun always seemed to shine
More often than not, on those highways
There were brothers riding by my side
Tattoos and wrinkles on skin that aged
Along with many scars upon my heart
Memories now that are fading away
Are only the ones that kept me down
